If you have any questions or concerns about chiropractic treatment, we’d be happy to answer them prior to you booking an appointment. Just get in touch.
If you decide to go ahead, it is helpful if you can prepare a list of previous injuries and serious illnesses to bring along to your first session, along with a list of any medicines you’re currently taking and an overview of how you’re currently feeling. This will help save some time during the session so we can spend more of your visit concentrating on your treatment. We have prepared two forms which you can print and use to record this information in advance: a form to record your history and one to record how you feel now.
During the first session, your full medical history is taken and a thorough orthopedic and neurological assessment is performed in order to determine your general health, previous conditions and existing symptoms.
Before your treatment starts we will explain the results of the examination and discuss with you a proposed treatment plan, including the envisaged number of treatments and costs.
Our chiropractic treatment is often complemented by soft tissue work and/or acupuncture.
During a course of chiropractic care you can expect to feel physical changes as your body realigns, particularly after the first treatment. These may include tiredness, stiffness, aches, or even increased symptoms for a short time. After each treatment, your body will take up to a few days to adjust.
Generally, we will advise you to drink a lot of water and to avoid strenuous exercise after the treatment to give your body a chance to process the treatment impulses and to realign itself.
Chiropractic is a very individual treatment and the number of sessions you will need depends on your circumstances. We usually recommend more than one treatment, but there’s no obligation to block book.
Most people find between three and six sessions sufficient to address straightforward problems. This depends on many factors such as age, current condition, previous injury and illness history, and your ability to follow after care advice (rest, home exercises, avoiding or adjusting certain activities).
